Radiesse

  • What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a volumizing filler that restores a youthful look to your appearance by filling wrinkles and folds and provides an instant lift. Radiesse naturally stimulates collagen smooths out the signs of aging.

  • How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse is tiny microspheres made of calcium in a sterile water-based gel. These calcium based microspheres are biocompatible and naturally found in the body. Once injected, your body absorbs the Radiesse and stimulates your own natural collagen.

  • What does it treat?

Radiesse is injected into the mid- and deep dermis to dramatically improve the appearance of the following areas of facial tissue:

Nasolabial folds, generally known as “smile lines”
Glabella area – the creases that occur between a person’s eyes.
“Marionette” lines, the creases that occur on either side of the mouth
Chin contouring
Cheek enhancement
Hands

  • What results should I expect from Radiesse injection?

Radiesse is designed to help smooth moderate to severe facial folds, wrinkles and restoring volume loss. Most patients report needing only one treatment for their desired facial smoothing, with the results lasting an average of 12 months. It’s important to note that these are temporary results with touch-up injections required to maintain your desired corrections.

  • How long does an injection take?

The actual site of injection will be chosen after the doctor examines your skin’s appearance and consults with you on your desired end results. An ultra-fine needle will then be used to inject the gel into the areas of face and neck needing correction. The procedure generally takes an estimated ten to thirty minutes with patients reporting minimal discomfort either during or following the procedure.

  • Is this a safe treatment?

Radiesse was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating moderate to severe facial lines, folds, and wrinkles. This is a fully biodegradeable gel that’s designed on substances that naturally occur in our bodies. This means there’s very little risk of allergic reactions. Additionally, you won’t need to undergo a pre-testing as it will easily break down and be absorbed your body.

  • How soon can I expect to see the results of an injection?

Expect to see results from a Radiesse treatment almost immediately following injection. These results generally last several months longer than a similar collagen injection.

  • How long will an injection be effective?

Radiesse is very popular as it generally provides much longer effective results than collagen fillers. How long your treatment will last depends on your age, lifestyle and skin structure. In general, you can expect treatments to last between six months and a year, although with your first treatment a follow-up injection may be required within four weeks. In most cases, those with treatments for wrinkles and folds schedule their next injection within a year.

  • What are the side effects from Radiesse?

It’s rare that you’ll experience negative side effects from a treatment. However, there may be some immediate follow-up reactions like redness, swelling, itching, tenderness and slight discoloration at or around the injection site. A few patients have experienced acne-like skin formations in addition to redness and tenderness that are described as mild to moderate and lasting about two weeks.

  • How often can I seek treatment with Radiesse?

You may repeat full injection treatments in eight to 12 month intervals, although you may return for touch-ups sooner as desired.
